Prepare To Move Your Business Into A Temporary Rental Facility

If renovations to your coffee shop will result in you needing to close down operations in the current location and moving into a rental facility, for the time being, deciding how to go about moving the crux of your business into the new establishment can be overbearing if you haven't prepared a basic game plan that contains methodical steps. Tackle the project by moving the essentials, purchasing supplies, and storing materials.

Halt The Orders And Use Vacuum Sealing Technology

If the coffee beans, milk, espresso, and flavorings are typically ordered in bulk and shipped to your coffee shop, stop all future orders until you are aware of the date that you will moving into the rental building. Obviously, you will need to have supplies shipped to the new location, but there is no use preparing any orders until you are sure of what items you are running short on once you get situated in the temporary facility.

When you are ready to pack up your coffee shop, use a vacuum sealer to preserve the freshness of open packages of coffee and espresso beans. Use white labels to identify the flavor variety and expiration date of each sealed package.

Stabilize Equipment

Machinery that contains surfaces that are not scratch -resistant may take a beating if items are jostled around while they are being transported. Electrical equipment, such as stainless steel coffee makers, espresso machines, and percolators should be stabilized prior to being stored in a moving vehicle's cargo section.

Secure a few layers of padded fabric around each piece of equipment. Smaller, lightweight pieces of equipment can be placed inside of insulated crates or bins. Larger items need to be placed directly on the flooring inside of the cargo area. Use plastic ties to secure electrical cords so that they do not become tangled with one another.

Place Items In Storage And Purchase Inexpensive Additions

If the renovations are going to be taking place over the course of a few weeks and moving some of the heavy equipment and furnishings that you own doesn't seem practical, store the items inside of a portable storage unit that is set up on your property so that the items won't hinder the progress of the workers who are completing the upgrades.

Some inexpensive additions, such as patio furnishings or portable equipment can be purchased so that you can appease your guests but won't be setting yourself back financially. Just make sure that the items that you purchase can be repurposed for various tasks in your original coffee shop so that you won't be throwing funds down the drain when you make the purchases.
